Summary
This article describes the integration strategy for recording of all production-related data centralized and in a standardized electronic format for a newly-erected pharmaceutical production plant of Novartis. Although the project has been realized in the specific environment of pharmaceutical production, all its fundamental approaches are industry and application independent; they provide a generic approach to the problem of quick and standardized integration of package units in line or cell structures of discrete or batch production.
